| Design Brief for Kingston Town Centre | |
|
31 October, 2001 Kingston residents and businesses have the opportunity to discuss the draft Planning & Urban Design Brief for the Kingston town center sites on either side of Ashdown Road to provide a guide for any future development on these key sites. The draft and Planning & Urban Design Brief is for the land bounded by Eden Street, Brook Street, Wheatfield Way and Lady Booth Road, Kingston upon Thames. Proposed uses include; a new public library; affordable housing; student housing; public car parking and offices. A public meeting to discuss the Planning & Urban Design Brief will be held in the Guildhall, Kingston at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7th November 2001. |
The brief also sets out options to improve traffic/public transport management
in this area, especially in Eden Street. It provides guidance for the
retention of the Grade II listed former post office buildings and addresses
how their setting can be enhanced.
Local town centre residents, businesses, site owners and organisations are being consulted and all our being invited to attend the meeting on the 7th November to find out more, ask questions and to air their views. Written comments from the public are sought by 19th November. Copies of the brief can be viewed at Planning Reception, 2nd Floor, Guildhall 2, in Kingston Library and on the Council's web site www.kingston.gov.uk. |
