Lib Dems Welcome Graffiti initiative

17 May, 2000 Liberal Democrat Councillors have welcomed the announcement at last night's Cabinet meeting that an all party group is to be established to tackle the growing scourge of graffiti across the borough. The move follows calls from Lib Dem Councillors last month for a more co-ordinated approach to the problem.

Details of the all-party working group have still to be arranged but it is hoped that it will bring together all interested parties and provide a more holistic approach to the Councils current arrangements for tackling the problem of graffiti.

Commenting on the new task force Liberal Democrat Councillor Roger Hayes said

"We warmly welcome this latest development in the fight against graffiti. It is in the interest of everybody both in the Council and across the Borough to tackle the scourge of graffiti. By bringing everyone within the Council and all other interested parties together in this way we can identify best practice and maximise the effectiveness of the resources at our disposal. We look forward to seeing visible results across the Borough in the weeks and months ahead."
