Changes on the GLA

15 February, 2002

Bye to Louise Bloom...

This week GLA Liberal Democrat group bid a fond farewell to Louise Bloom.  Louise decided to resign from the GLA for personal reasons, after making an excellent contribution to the London Assembly, especially in her specialist areas of the environment and the community sector. We wish her all the best for the future.

Because Louise was selected from the party top-up list, it means that electors do not have to undergo a bye-election.  Instead the next highest person from the list at the time is offered the seat.

…Liberal Democrat Mike Tuffrey steps in

Mike Tuffrey joins the Liberal denmocrat GLA team. Mike, who was 5th on the London-wide list in the GLA elections, has been a Lambeth councillor since 1990, including leader during the 1994-98 hung council period; he was also a member of the GLC.

Mike will become the GLA Liberal Democrat Economic Development spokesperson, and will also join the Smoking in Public Places Investigative Committee for its ‘last drag’.

In other changes, Sally will replace Louise on the Planning Advisory Committee and Graham will be taking over on Environment.
