Local Lib Dem Wins seat on GLA

8 May, 2000 Kingston is set to have a strong voice in the new greater London Assembly following the election of local activist Louise Bloom. Louise has lived in Kingston for 18 years and her children attend local schools. Louise has stood before as a candidate in both Norbiton and Tudor.

Louise was elected on the London wide top up list for the Assembly and joins three other successful Lib Dem Candidates who may well hold the balance in the new Assembly.

Commenting on the success a jubilant Liberal Democrat leader Councilor Derek Osbourne said

"I congratulate Louise on a well deserved victory. She has worked tirelessly for Local residents and truly deserves this victory. Her knowledge of Kingston and record on action will ensure that through Louise Kingston will have a strong effective voice at the heart of the new London Government."

And Greater London Assembly Member Louise Bloom added

"I look forward to starting the job of representing Kingston and indeed the rest of this great city on the GLA. As an organization the GLA has the chance to make a real difference for the people of London and as a party the Liberal Democrats will play a key role."
